The Mission Group is a committee of the PCC. Its purposes are:
To advise the P.C.C. on all mission matters
To inform and inspire all church members to be involved in mission by prayer and giving, and for the few, by going themselves.
To support our mission partners financially and with prayer.
Prayer and information
We have a programme of prayer support and every Sunday, during intercessions, one mission society, project or individual is prayed for. We also have a monthly focus on one of our mission partners with displays of their work on our mission boards in both churches. There are prayer cards to act as reminders for these monthly prayer topics.
We have several mission services a year with visiting speakers.
October’s Mission Focus is Christian Connections in Schools (CCiS). This charity was set up to support Wayne Dixon who works in the local schools in Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor. He visits secondary school helping with RE and curriculum input and spends time talking with teenagers and staff and getting alongside them. He also organises events explaining the significance of Christmas (Christmas Unwrapped) and Easter (Easter Cracked) and visits year 6 children to give them support as they make the move to secondary school.
This group advises the PCC on its Missions giving. We are giving 5% of our income/offerings to the mission of the church at home and abroad.
We have a good spread in our mission partners. They function at global, national and local levels. They reach different ethnic and age groups with a huge variety of needs using different means and media to reach people. We have included both individuals and societies, and all are committed to spreading the good news of the gospel.
This year our church is giving to the following:
