The Mission Group is a committee of the PCC. Its purposes are:
· To advise the P.C.C. on all mission matters
· To inform and inspire all church members to be involved in mission by prayer and giving, and for the few, by going themselves.
· To support our mission partners financially and with prayer.
Prayer and information
We have a programme of prayer support and every Sunday, during intercessions, one mission society, project or individual is prayed for. We also have a monthly focus on one of our mission partners with displays of their work on our mission boards in both churches. There are prayer cards to act as reminders for these monthly prayer topics.
We have several mission services a year with visiting speakers.
June’s Mission Focus is Wycliffe
Wycliffe Bible Translators believe that the Bible is the best way for people to come
to know and understand who God is. Our vision is that by working with churches, organisations
and individuals from around the world all people will have access to God's word in
a language that they truly understand. Worldwide, 180 million people speaking 1,860
languages need Bible translation to begin, because they do not have access to the
story of God's love for his people -
This group advises the PCC on its Missions giving. We are giving 5% of our income/offerings to the mission of the church at home and abroad.
We have a good spread in our mission partners. They function at global, national and local levels. They reach different ethnic and age groups with a huge variety of needs using different means and media to reach people. We have included both individuals and societies, and all are committed to spreading the good news of the gospel.
This year our church is giving to the following:
David and Joy James
Stewart and Jo Johnson
Simon and Sue ()
